Kerryn Tomlinson hopes that she’s driving the pick of Brad Williamson trained trio who go head-to-head at Winton today.
Tomlinson is holding down the fort at home base with the assistance of her fellow staff members and the Williamson family as Brad seeks Group One glory with Aroha Kenny in a Breeders Crown Final at Melton on Saturday night.
Back home, three of Williamson’s talented trotting mares will clash at Winton with Night Watch, Mixed Faith and Laurie’s Legacy doing battle in race 5.
The tempo of the mobile mile event is set to play a vital part in splitting the trio.
“They are all chances because they’re working well and look well placed in this type of race,” Tomlinson said.
“Laurie’s Legacy would be hard to beat if she was able to get handy.”
“She is back to her best form now with the half hopples on.”
“She is better over longer trips, but if she was close enough to them she is going to keep going.”
“Mixed Faith definitely has the ability to win, she can go rough from time to time but if she gets into a good rhythm and gets a decent run she will be right in it.”
Nathan Williamson drives Laurie’s Legacy (7) with Craig Ferguson to drive Mixed Faith (5).
Tomlinson drives Night Watch who has drawn inside her stablemates in barrier 4.
“She has been working really well and she has got a bit of gate speed, so that should give us a few options.”
“I was really happy with her last start, she ran on quite nicely at Wyndham after starting off a handicap.”
Tomlinson also drives King Cassidy in race 4 with the Brad Williamson stable also starting Simone Lindenny.
“King Cassidy got too far back in a big field at Ashburton,” Tomlinson said.
“If he steps well he could go a cheeky race, he loves a fast tempo so hopefully the speed is on.”
“Simone Lindenny is a highly strung sort of horse, there was a lot for her to take in on Cup Day with the big crowd.”
“If she does everything right she will be a good chance, even from the 35m handicap.”
“Her work has been really good this week.”
Tomlinson also combines with the Matthew Williamson trained The Matriarch in race 3.
The pair produced a good third at the same track last week.
“She ran really well last week.”
“She has the pull downs on this week which should be a big help cos she lost her concentration a little bit last week.”
“Hopefully she can go two better.”
Tomlinson also drives Forty Wives (race 8) and Mucho Macho Man (race 9) today.
