Race 1

6 Melody’s Mischief: Big run on debut and hit the line with real purpose. Should step up in this field and deliver the goods based on that effort.

5 Vesnina: Smart type on debut here and good workout and trial form under the belt too. Right in the mix with any luck.

1 Live Sport: Now with the Dunn team and operates from a good draw. Stable usually kicks a few goals on this trip. Have to him in.

8 Speciale Uno: Seems to have forgotten how to run a bad race and offers up some nice place value in the first of the day, even from the wide draw.

Selections: 6-5-1-8

Race 2

9 Mono Gamble: Nelson might really suit this front-running trotter. Has the ability when in the right mood and might be able to get across them here and run them ragged.

10 Rain Mist And Muscle: Nice type back from a good spell. Held in good enough regard and should step up here and give them something to think about.

11 Dreamsinthe Mist: Back from a 2YO campaign and not the worst here. Orange jumps in the bike, so gets every opportunity. Has to be considered.

3 Gaytana: Beautifully bred trotter who was very good on debut. Going to win a few races and from the good draw seems right in the fight here.

Selections: 9-10-11-3

Race 3

3 Her Majesty: Held up at the wrong time on debut when the money was on and it’s on again. Follow the ship. Right in the middle of the action here with any luck.

5 Mark O’Ronga: Strong run at the Methven workouts to tidy up for this and in an even enough looking field has to be considered a decent winning hope.

2 Fernleigh Colleen: On speed runner with good manners as shown on the Coast. Should get forward and give a strong account once again here.

8 Uno Mia: Has been overall disappointing after showing plenty of promise. Runs this time in haven’t been bad though and no surprise to see a big run here.

Selections: 3-5-2-8

Race 4

4 Jimmy Arma: All anyone has wanted to talk about this week. Good draw, smart trials and workouts so has to be considered the leading contender here.

3 Glenledi Chief: Smart type who finally lobs a nice draw. Should get into the speed and look to run them along and keep them honest. Good enough to win it too.

2 Kenya: Senior driver back in the bike after not much luck lately. Does go good enough to win a race like this and right in it if able to get the luck.

6 He’s Aflyin: Debutant from the Dunn stable which is usually a good enough sign to be right in the middle of it all here. Trial was OK. Don’t leave out.

Selections: 4-3-2-6

Race 5

10 Kacie Cullen: More upside than most in this, but not showing it yet. Gets the perfect opportunity to stand up here and show the true worth.

5 All Nuts N Bolts: Genuine old performer who goes well here and should be able to get onto the speed and keep them very honest throughout.

3 Madiba: Nice run last time out and does hold stronger credentials than most in this line up. Will get handy and then be ready to rock and roll.

7 Sonic Reign: Handy runs on the coast and does go well here too. Should be right in the middle of it in a very even looking line up.

Selections: 10-5-3-7

Race 6

6 Maharani: Speed horse who is well suited by the small field here. Should roll to the lead at some point and from there be too slick for them.

5 Laver: Talented pacer who is in really good form. Likely to get forward and more than capable of pushing the favourite with the right kind of run.

4 Jazelle: Three really good runs on the Coast circuit. She’s in genuinely good form and can place again in this with Orange in the bike.

2 Scelta Uno: Goes well here and is going a bit better than a casual look at the form line might suggest. On the speed and out of trouble.

Selections: 6-5-4-2

Race 7

8 Idle Stuartia: Still got a bit to learn but was much better at Ashburton on Christmas Eve. Good enough to round this field up if doing everything right.

12 One Majic Kenny: Got it wrong last time out after a very good win the start before. Right in the thick of it if able to get away on good terms and stay down trotting.

14 Overzealous: Big handicap, but she’s a smart wee mare who should appreciate getting back on the all weather. Dangerous if she’s able to have one cold shot at them.

6 Midnight Dash: Did a good job last season and should be stronger this time in. Pressing forward early and staying out of trouble could be the big difference.

Selections: 8-12-14-6

Race 8

11 Change Is Good: In grand form and goes well here. Would be a popular winner of this as a former local and should be the one they all have to beat.

5 Stars Tonight: Big runs on the Coast and kept safe for this and missed Reefton. Can get onto the speed and prove too good for them with any luck.

7 Yorkshire: Talented, but still putting it all together. Dangerous if able to get onto the speed and run them along a bit as he doesn’t like horses getting past him.

1 Taxman: Head scratcher at The Mot after a strong workout effort. Allow another chance here getting back onto the all weather. Best would step out and win it.

Selections: 11-5-7-1

Race 9

8 Shadow Phantasy: Not many would have missed the effort last time out. On that can sit back and look to unleash with one run at them and probably would be too good.

6 Southerly Change: Not the greatest of luck in recent runs but still producing good efforts. Should enjoy Nelson and looks one of the leading contenders here.

7 Dynamite: Nice runs recently and another win looks right at hand. Could be the surprise packet in this if things fall into place.

5 Eastwood Isabella: On speed runner who gets a chance to land there today and with a nice run in transit can certainly offer a bit of cheek.

Selections: 8-6-7-5

Race 10

4 Soundslikeart: Got the job done last time out at The Mot and stays in the same grade. Should be able to roll forward and keep them honest here. Hard to catch.

1 Canstar: Not much luck in three runs back from a spell but should be on the speed here and out of trouble. Dangerous with one cold shot at them.

11 Givemewhatineed: Talented, but often his own worst enemy. Nelson should suit his style and can ruffle a few feathers here with the right kind of run.

8 Rockahula Joe: Smart runs recently and even though wide drawn here should be still a live each way chance in a tricky way to end the day.

Selections: 4-1-11-8

BEST: 8 Shadow Phantasy (Race 9)

NEXT: 6 Maharani (Race 6)

VALUE: 9 Mono Gamble (Race 2)
