Methven Club News

The Methven track and facilities are looking in splendid order a little longer than a week out from the clubs big Christmas meeting on Sunday December 13.

The order of the day as usual at this meeting is picnic atmosphere lots of Bar-B-Q’s and a heap of competitions, Father Christmas, lolly scrambles, egg and spoon races and the highlight as always with patrons the Babe in a Barrow race. In short a good old relaxing day in rural New Zealand.

On the racing front the big races are the FastTrack Insurance Trotter’s Green Mile and Methven Four Square Pacer’s Green Mile with the likely appearance of some impressive horse flesh.

In other news the Methven Club is pleased to announce a new race to be staged at the club’s January 31 meeting.

Named the Lather Up Little Green Jug 3 year old stakes the race is for three year old pacers over a mobile mile for a stake of $15,000.

The brain child of programming coordinator Lawrence Hanrahan the Methven committee are excited about the race and what time the youngsters might achieve on the grass track.

So come join the Christmas party, you will be made very welcome and remember the sun always shines raceday at Mt. Harding track see you there!
