Best Bet at Kyneton – Gabstar

The Cindy Alderson-trained Gabstar returns off a 37-week spell and brings excellent form lines from her initial campaign to this Kyneton maiden. At her last start before heading to the paddock, she finished fourth behind Adele Amour, Barb Raider and El Patroness. In other words, a Group 1 winner in El Patroness, multiple Group level winner in Barb Raider and a filly on the way to bigger and better things in Adele Amour. She was beaten just over four-lengths on that day, but a repeat of that run should see her put a gap on a field like this. From barrier eight, look for Ethan Brown to have the Star Witness filly in the one-one throughout and when asked for an effort, Gabstar should have a bit of class on this field. The $3.50 with online betting sites looks a nice price to load into.

Next Best at Kyneton – Magnalicious

Having finished second at all three starts this campaign, the George Osborne-trained Magnalicious is long overdue her maiden success. The four-year-old mare went down late in a tight three way go at Bendigo on April 20 on a Heavy 9 and with similar conditions expected on Monday, we know she will handle the conditions in the opening event and looks the one to beat. Alana Kelly will look to use barrier two to her advantage aboard the Magnus mare and have her settled just off the heels of expected leaders Kulina and Miss Mamba. Magnalicious may be a perineal bridesmaid with five minor placings from six starts, but Monday looks to be her day and the $2.70 available with online bookmakers looks the right price.

Best Value at Kyneton – Adki

Adki from the Michael & Luke Cerchi yard may just be the best $13 shot going around in the country circuit this week. The five-year-old mare has two wins and a minor placing from four starts on a heavy and already has a win to her name over the Kyneton 1212m. She is a horse with plenty of early speed and from barrier three, Zac Spain will hunt for the rail and give his rivals something to chase throughout. We expect Adki will gain an uncontested lead, which should prove a detriment to her rivals and the $13 with Neds looks simply too good to ignore.
