Kiwi-bred mare scores another stakes win

Another Dollar (NZ) (Ocean Park) gave trainer Chris Waller a clean sweep of the limited Brisbane winter staying features after taking out the Gr.3 Premier’s Cup (2200m) at Doomben on Saturday.

The five-year-old daughter of Ocean Park beat La Pulga (Dream Ahead) by a neck with Waller stablemate Alward (Aqlaam), who races in the silks of syndicators Go Racing, 1-1/4 lengths in third.

Waller’s Queensland manager Paul Shailer said Luke Dittman was a most underrated jockey.

“That was a very good ride on a horse which can be tricky,” he said. “He is a very good jockey and you can say he will be getting a lot more rides in the city for us in coming months.”

Another Dollar has shown a liking for Doomben and ran second in the 2018 Gr.1 Queensland Oaks (2200m) at the track.

“She has only been out of the placings once at Doomben so it is probably her favourite track,” Shailer said.

Waller has now won all 18 of the major staying feature races in Queensland with the Premiers Cup the only one not in his cabinet before Saturday.

Winner of the Listed Gosford Gold Cup (2000m) at Randwick in May, Another Dollar advances her record to 5 wins, 6 seconds and 6 thirds from 27 starts with earnings of A$696,625.

Bred by Waikato Stud, Another Dollar is out of Pins mare Make A Wish who is also the dam of No Limits (NZ) (Savabeel) a $1.4 million purchase by Te Akau Racing’s David Ellis at the 2019 New Zealand Bloodstock Yearling Sale. No Limits was an impressive trial winner at Te Rapa earlier this week.

Another Dollar is one of nine stakes-winners for Ocean Park who has enjoyed a break-through season in Australia with five stakes-winners, which includes the Group One winners Kolding (NZ) and Tofane (NZ).
