Jonny Turner’s thoughts ahead of today’s meeting

Blink N Bones, Woodlea Diego and Twilight Bromac look big winning chances at Addington on Tuesday afternoon.

Racing journalist Jonny Turner caught up with some of the trainers and drivers lining the trio up to see how they think their charges are placed going into the twilight meeting.

Race 2: Twilight Bromac (1)
Trainers: Cran and Chrissie Dalgety
Driver: Blair Orange

Twilight Bromac has had plenty of good chances to win a maiden before and Tuesday’s race must rate at the very top of that list.

Forget his last start over the 1390m, he copped a tough trip and clearly wasn’t suited to the novel style of racing.Barrier 1, Blair Orange in the sulky and facing a largely out of form field, there will be few excuses if the three-year-old can not breakthrough.

“Surely he can get it done on Tuesday, but to be fair we have been here before,” Cran Dalgety said.

“He has had a few chances like this and hasn’t been able to get his nose in front.”

“He is fit and healthy and happy so we won’t have any excuses, hopefully it is his day.”

Twilight Bromac opened at a $2.40 fixed odds win price.

Race 3: Woodlea Diego (3)
Trainer: Tom Twidle
Driver: John Morrison

Woodlea Diego looks to be coming into race 3 at the top of his game after a big effort for second behind Stag Party.

The four-year-old did a bit of work in the running and ran on well behind a horse that would round up most of his rivals on Tuesday.

Woodlea Diego should land close to the speed from barrier 3 and has a noted on-pacer in Prospect Park outside him in barrier 4.

“I was really happy with his last start, it was a pretty good effort behind Stag Party,” John Morrison said.

“He is a horse that can’t do a lot of work in his races, but if he can get the right run he should go pretty good.”

Woodlea Diego opened at a fixed-odds win quote of $2.80.

Race 5: Blink N Bones (9)
Trainer-driver: Barry Ford

Blink N Bones doesn’t have a great winning strike-rate at 1-from-41 but he looks set to improve that when taking on what looks like a very suitable field.

The five-year-old comes into race 5 after on the back of a massive effort when sitting parked and just going down to smart three-year-old Outamyway.

With respect to the runners in this field there don’t look to be any ‘Outamyways’ lining up.

“Hopefully he can go another good race, he has been working as well as he was before his last one,” Barry Ford said.

“He hasn’t got a big sprint, but he is a good stayer.”

“Although in saying that he can get home in 58 or 59sec, so he has got a bit of speed there.”

“I can’t do much more with him, he is fit and ready to go, hopefully.”

Blink N Bones opened at a $4 fixed odds win price.
