Ipswich racing preview

What Ipswich Races
Where Ipswich Turf Club – 219 Brisbane Rd, Bundamba QLD 4304
When Wednesday, October 12, 2022
First Race 12:41pm AEST

The Ipswich Turf Club will host Wednesday metropolitan racing again this week, with a nine-race card to kick off at 12:41pm AEST. The track is currently rated as a Soft 5, with no rain on the forecast, so hopefully by the first race we should be on a Good track. The rail will be 2m position from the 1600m to the 1100m mark and then in the 4m position for the remainder of the circuit.

Ipswich Best Bet: Invinovich

Our best bet of the day will be in race two over 1350m, where we are siding with the Natalie McCall-trained Invinovich, who was able to break his maiden last start at career start number five. This three-year-old gelding has one of the more impressive records in this field with one win and four placings in his relatively young career to date. This son of I Am Invincible was very good first-up over 1000m at the Sunshine Coast on September 25, where he ran on from midfield and ran through the line strongly. That win showed the extra 350m that he will get on Wednesday should suit this talented gelding. Tiffani Brooker should box seat from barrier one and get the run of the race, giving this guy every chance to win again.

Best Bet

Race 2 – silks#2 Invinovich (1)

3yo Gelding | T: Natalie McCall | J: Tiffani Brooker (59kg)

Next Best at Ipswich: Immoral

The Tony Gollan-trained Immoral will be our next best bet in the last race of the day over 1100m. This four-year-old gelding has been quite unlucky at both of his last two starts over 1000m at Eagle Farm where he was held up for the majority of the straight before getting out and flying home for third, while he was three wide for the trip at Doomben over 1200m and still he worked home very nicely. Going from 1200m back in distance slightly to 1100m, should suit, so if James Orman can have this son of Deep Field around midfield and with the some cover, he will be very hard to beat.

Next Best

Race 9 – silks#6 Immoral (7)

4yo Gelding | T: Tony Gollan | J: James Orman (57.5kg)

$3.80 with Neds

Ipswich Value Bet: Laraina

In race seven over 1350m the Lorraine Erhart-trained Laraina will be our value play of the day. This five-year-old mare went to the paddock last preparation after winning two on the bounce, but since returning from a four month spell she has been running in tougher company and it has shown in her results, running seventh at both starts. However, today she meets a smaller field, with less quality and if the track is playing heavily to leaders, it could just be her day. With the aid of Wendy Peel’s 3kg claim, this girl should be able to cross the field early and lead, with plenty left in the tank for her to kick off the bend and hold on late.

Best Value

Race 7 – silks#8 Laraina (10)

5yo Mare | T: Lorraine Erhart | J: Wendy Peel (a3) (54.5kg)
