Dalgety and Butt a combo to watch

by Jonny Turner

Trainer Bob Butt and junior Carter Dalgety have formed a potent combination recently and they look set for more success this weekend.

Dalgety will be in the cart behind Phoebe Imperial at Addington on Friday night before heading to Ascot Park to drive Come Together and Himself on Saturday.

Phoebe Imperial has had just two starts for the Butt stable, for a second and a last start win at Addington.

The trotter steps up in grade but given the form he is in he should be highly competitive.

“He has gone two good races for me,” Butt said.

“This race is another step up for him, so we will see if he can handle it.”

“But I have been happy with him.”

Butt also steps out of the cart with stable runner Manhattan who starts in Friday night’s Team Teal event.

The mare looks the class runner of the field, but after a freshen up the mare won’t be at her peak for driver Sheree Tomlinson.

“I gave her a freshen up and she hasn’t had a trial or anything.”

“I wasn’t going to start her but I saw the noms and I chucked her in.”

“She will improve with the run but hopefully her class will take her a long way.”

“It will all depend on what sort of run she gets from the draw (9).”

Enigmatic trotter T Bone Rawhide also starts for Butt at Addington on Friday night, in race 1.

The eight-year-old has been pulled up twice in three starts for the trainer and was second in the other.

Clearly, he is a risky proposition for punters.

“He is a place chance if he does everything right.”

As well as starting two runners at Ascot Park, Butt has one runner at Rangiora on Sunday in Mighty Flying Rocker.
