G1 Bold Trease placegetter Mepunga Ruby is expected to boost her strike rate this evening at The Meadows.

THE WATCHDOG’S $10 INVESTMENT
Saturday 4 December
First : Win – MIRROR ILLUSION
Warragul Race 6 Box 1 460m 7:27pm
TAB fixed odds: $1.80 Win
Second : Win – BROTHER BEARING
Warragul Race 7 Box 2 460m 7:51pm
TAB fixed odds: $1.95 Win
The Watchdog says : MIRROR ILLUSION (1) is better known as a middle distance chaser now; however, she comes into this nice and fresh and I am expecting her to sprint well first-up. She has a tremendous record from this draw, and she owns a sizzling 25.74sec PB, so if fully fit, she can lead throughout. BROTHER BEARING (2) has turned in some impressive performances up the straight since resuming and he looks very well graded tonight. If he can step evenly, he should have no trouble crossing HURRY HARRY (1) and he will be carving out time.
Multi price: $3.51
$2 Trifecta – 2 / 1 / 8 (200%)
Must Watch Race
Mixed Grade 4/5
The Meadows Race 4
The Watchdog says : MEPUNGA RUBY (2) has panels on her rivals. ASTON ALPHA (1) was far from disgraced behind MEPUNGA WARRIOR last Saturday night. CALL ME CHLOE (8) hit the line well in her Sandown Park 595m win on November 2.
‘Must Watch Race’ Preview :
We are down to a field of four, however we get to see staying megastar MEPUNGA RUBY (2) go around. GYPSY WYONG may have captured the Group 1 Bold Trease; however, I still think ‘Ruby’ is the best stayer in the game at present. She has carved out some blistering times in her career to date and with the smaller line-up, she should gain a clear passage throughout, and I would expect her to rattle the clock. ASTON ALPHA (1) is an improving type, and he is getting stronger all the time, so although he probably can’t beat her, he can fill the quinella spot.
The Watchdog’s selections: 2 – 1 – 8
$5 Win – GYPSY YANKEE
The Meadows Race 9 Box 7 525m 9:22pm
TAB fixed odds: $2.20 Win
The Watchdog says : He is probably better suited around Sandown Park, however he finds himself in a race which features minimal early speed. If he can step on terms, he should be on the shoulder of VAYDA BALE (1) as they head through the turn and then assume control in the middle stages. He has a fair bit on these class wise and it will just come down to the start.
