An eight-part card is scheduled for Tuesday afternoon at Ballarat Turf Club and HorseBetting’s Victorian betting expert presents his best bets, top odds and free quaddie selections. The meeting is set to be run on the club’s Synthetic track with the first race set to go at 1pm AEST.

Best Bet at Ballarat – Rose Tycoon

Patience will be important on Tuesday as our best bet of the day Rose Tycoon from the Tony & Calvin McEvoy yard steps out in the penultimate race of the day. There is no secret that the stable love using their local synthetic track to help their runners progress through the grades and fresh off a dominant maiden win, this Written Tycoon mare looks primed to go on with the job here. Having drawn barrier eight, Hannah Edgley will need to be aggressive early and will look to have this chestnut mare settled outside expected race leader Enigma throughout. With five weeks between runs, she’ll have freshness on her side and based off her maiden victory, it is hard to see how this bunch of perennial non-winners get near her.

Next Best at Ballarat – Nicstar

The Ciaron Maher & David Eustace-trained Nicstar has been a model of consistency so far in her career and considering she has not missed three top three in five career starts, she Is more than deserving of this maiden success. She relished the 2200m last time out on the Pakenham Synthetic and despite step back 100m on Tuesday, the three-year-old filly looks to be a stayer worth following as she progresses. From barrier two, Teo Nugent will most likely opt to take a sit off the speed and gain the gun run in transit. Despite continually finding one better in recent times, Tuesday looks to be the day for Nicstar and we are happy to take the $2.50 with online betting sites.

Best Value at Ballarat – Lady Ardoyne

We were with the Tom Conlan-trained Lady Ardoyne when she broke her maiden at the Ballarat 1500m on June 14 and a fortnight later we’re happy to butter up again as she returns to the track and trip. Despite travelling three wide with no cover up on speed, the three-year-old filly managed to put close to four lengths on her rivals in a dominant display as she kicked clear in the home straight. The BM58 she steps in to is certainly not the strongest and considering she is racing in career best form, there is no reason why she cannot record consecutive victories. From barrier six, we expect Dean Holland to land her in the one-one and if afforded that luxury, this Sports Edition has the turn of foot to put a race like this away in a couple of strides. The $7 with online bookmakers looks a perfect price to take.
