Best Bet at Riccarton – Privileged Son

We have to wait until the last race of the day to find the best bet of the day in Privileged Son. He was beaten less than a length when making a fresh start at Hastings and after the line that day he was in front. He had no luck last time out at Pukekohe after being held up at a vital stage and after switching ground in the straight he did well to finish as close as he did, albeit in tenth place. He is back in his rightful class today and will be peaking third-up. The wide draw by this time of the day won’t be an issue and he is set to put his hoof in the till.

Next Best at Riccarton – Forever Young

Forever Young ran on nicely after making a slow start last time out at Pukekohe in a handy maiden field that included winners, due to the conditions of the race at nomination time. He probably should have won a race by now, but does looks suited to the mile and his jockey Kendra Bakker is having her first race ride today. If she can keep him out of trouble early then they both could be breaking their duck today.

Best Value at Riccarton – Tightlign

Tightlign overdid it early last start in his first run in over two months and after taking up his customary place in front early. He was unable to keep going on the heavy surface and faded to run fourth. He will be much sharper today and is unbeaten in two starts on this track. The surface should still be in reasonable condition for the first race and he should go close to leading all the way.
