Omamori looks ready to win, stepping to 2069m. He’s been building through the grades, finishing runner-up at Donald on Soft 7 three back, and comes here off a narrow second at Moe last start over 2050m, where he was strong through the line. The Trent Busuttin & Natalie Young-trained gelding draws to hold a stalking spot, and his soft-track records suggests a heavy track shouldn’t blunt his finish. With race fitness and a reliable setup, he finds a winnable maiden staying contest and should get every possible. If he reproduces his last-start closing splits at this trip, he’ll take some catching.

She was a brave second two starts back in a Soft 6 Class 1 at Seymour and previously handled heavy ground when runner-up in a Bendigo F&M BM64 on July 13, indicating she handles genuine heavy going. From the draw she can slide across and park in the first half dozen, and her late strength at 1100m reads well, rising to 1208m. With race-fit wet-track form and a senior rider booked, she looks the best way home.

With a handy draw and Caitlin Hollowood’s 2kg claim keeping her in well at the weights, this looks like a target race. Wet-track numbers stack up well, and a repeat of her recent figures should simply be good enough.
