New Zealand greyhound racing has recently had a widespread outbreak of kennel cough, which has had a major impact on the available racing population due to scratchings and restrictions placed on affected kennels. The disease has been caused by an organism called Mycoplasma cynos, which is a common cause of kennel cough around the world, and while particularly contagious, clinical signs in affected dogs are generally mild and dogs are responsive to treatment. The Cranbourne Greyhound Racing Club has been placed under administration. The GRV Board decision was made after careful consideration, following an extensive process. Robert Lane of SED Advisory has been appointed as administrator of the Club, and will oversight the operations of the Club until further notice. Racing will resume at Cranbourne on Wednesday 16 December with support from GRV personnel. For information about trialling please contact the club directly.
