Social media is a powerful thing, we all know this, but it is a factor of our great sport of greyhound racing that will never cease to amaze. And this tale is very much along those lines. Carl Margariti from Greyhound Junkies Syndication and Nick Cutri from On The Bunny Syndication have together decided to donate a 5% share for Saturday nights race of Geelong and Sale Cup place getter Bobby The Brute to one of greyhound racing’s biggest fans – Matthew Field. Now, Matt will be learning of this…
Thief primed for Warragul heist
A rejuvenated and much stronger local hero Catch The Thief is primed to fly the Gippsland flag in Friday night’s Group 2 Evans Petroleum Warragul Cup heats. Trainer Matt Clark, who’s based at Briagolong, gave Catch The Thief a short but well-earned break after the Melbourne Cup heats in late November to set the multiple Group 1 finalist up for what he’s hoping will be bumper 2021. “I really wanted to give him a break because he’d had a really tough 12 months,” said Clark. “He’s been racing all over…

But he’s $1.75 favourite for the third Warragul Cup heat and also sits atop TAB’s all in market at $4, ahead of fellow sprinting luminaries Simon Told Helen and Tiggerlong Tonk, both at $6. Shima Shine is…

Whelans dealing with Silver Chief dream
Monique Whelan and her greyhound-loving family are living their racing dream this week, with homebred youngster Lakeview Walter joint favourite for Saturday night’s Group 1 Silver Chief (525m). Lakeview Walter is the ‘baby’ of the field; he doesn’t turn two until April, and has raced only six times but he heads TAB betting at $3.20 along with Equalizer, trained by five-time Silver Chief winner Jason Thompson. “It’s very, very exciting. I don’t think I’ve got my head around it yet,” said Monique. “There’s just something about Lakeview Walter. I don’t…
Delbridge up for the challenge at The Bool
Mark Delbridge heads into tonight’s Seaside Distance Challenge heats with two top contenders in Christo Bale and Ellias Bale. Both of which he believes are boxes well. Ellias Bale, who is proving to be the enigma of the kennels, has drawn box seven in the opening heat (race six at 8.11pm). “He is boxed beautifully in seven and his past two runs have been good,” Delbridge said. Ellias Bale comes into tonight’s Seaside Distance heat following two impressive victories, one at Warragul over the 680m and the other over the…
