With race experience under her belt, the Mick Price & Michael Kent (Jnr)-trained Charm Stone managed to put close to two-lengths on her rivals in an impressive victory in the 2022 Ottawa Stakes. Having settled close to the speed under Damian Lane, the filly, acquired for $1.55 million, managed to put her rivals away with ease when asked to quicken 200m out from home. The Group 3 success came at her second start following a third-place finish in the Listed Maribynong Trial on debut.
 -
Craig Williams brought up an impressive fourth win in the Group 3 Ottawa Stakes as he lifted See You In Heaven to victory on debut. The Richard & Chantelle Jolly-trained filly managed to hold a prominent position throughout and it proved beneficial as Williams asked for an effort. With 100m to go, the pair had a length margin on her rivals, with the filly holding that margin through the line to show she has plenty left to offer in nicer races as her career progresses.
 -
Two-year-old filly Dosh did her best to throw away the Ottawa Stakes with her waywardness in the closing stages, but she still found enough to prevail and set herself up for her next campaign. Dosh ($5.50 equal fav) looked certain to win before she veered out late and only just defeated Nice For What ($7.50) by a nose in the Group Three 1000 metre race. Butter Blonde ($8) was a length away third. Winning jockey Jordan Childs said the fact Dosh still won while hanging out only underlined her ability. Trainer Grahame Begg wasn’t shocked by Dosh’s antics and said the debutante did the same thing when they took her to Moonee Valley for a gallop. He said she was probably a bit better than his smart two-year-old filly from last season in Mildred.
 -
Despite being as green as the grass she was racing on, Aryaaf careered away from her rivals to salute in the Group 3 Ottawa Stakes. Having copped a check with 300m to go, the young filly found herself towards the grandstand rail in splendid isolation. The unorthodox move was decisive as Aryaaf extended like a nice horse should to go on and defeat Muntaseera by the best part of two-lengths in the opener on Melbourne Cup Day 2019.
