Next Gen is a HRNZ initiative, in conjunction with NZB Standardbred, betcha and the TAB, to encourage new owners to get involved in the sport, It was very successful when it debuted at this year’s yearlings Sales and has now been extended to the Weanling sale as well.

June’s catalogue is made up of the progeny of 22 stallions, including heavyweights such as Always B Miki, American Ideal, Art Major, Bettor’s Delight, Downbytheseaside, Majestic Son and Sweet Lou, to emerging sires like Captain Crunch, What the Hill and Vincent, plus first season sires King of The North, El Titan, Perfect Sting and more.

“We have a quality catalogue of weanlings put together from some of the best families in Australasia by top-flight sires,” commented NZB Standardbred Manager Cam Bray.

This year’s edition of the Sale will see strong support from renowned northern vendors, as well as southern vendors Dancingonmoonlight and Macca Lodge returning to the Karaka sales complex.

“This Sale has become a proven source for stakes winners. Graduates have already claimed 30 stakes wins across Australasia in the last five seasons.”

Those winners include the likes of Aardiebytheseaside, Christopher Dance and Fugitive.

The National Standardbred Weanling Sale will be held on the same date as the National Weanling Sale for thoroughbreds at Karaka, with the thoroughbred session getting underway at 10am, and the standardbreds from 2.30pm.
